No outdoor exercise for me this week but its either been hotter than blue blazes or storming its butt off. *sigh*

I've done better with my shopping list though. I made it a point to put a lot of different veggies on to make my "mega veggie salad". I like to use two different kinds of lettuce, baby spinach and then a bunch of other veggies like peppers, carrots, califlower, celery, etc. Sooo yummy with a little light ranch. We're trying to eat more lean proteins and add more fruits and vegetables into our diets because I'd really like to drop these 10 lbs before I start student teaching in August.

The outdoor exercising has been fantastic for me this week.

So far I have had two day of outdoor walking after work. On these days after I got home from work I changed into my workout clothes immediately to put myself in the mood and then I ate a nice protien packed dinner of two eggs and a piece of low calorie toast with orange marmalade. After eating I waited 20 minutes an did some light stretching before heading out for my walk. I walked for 40 minutes each night and covered roughly 3.5 miles.

I am working on my grocery list tonight, so tomorrow I should have the rest of my challenge results ready to share with everyone...

Hey gang!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've updated the challenge lineup. We're scheduled through the week of Halloween. The lineup is posted on the user info page and I've added a blurb space on the community's website that lists all of the challenge posters and the dates for those people who read the community from the community page rather than their friends page. So you have two places you can always check to see when it is your turn. We're on a very basic rotation so something like once every 6 weeks you should be posting a challenge.

Anyway, its all up there so you can jot down your dates. :) Happy body shaping everybody!

Approximately, how much juice would 2 limes produce?

My aunt gave me this FABULOUS recipe that calls for the juice from 2 limes--I'm wondering if I could use REALime juice instead, and if so, what the equivalent amount would be.

Any thoughts???

Hey there! How is everyone's week going???

I managed to make it outside for a walk this morning. I usually workout at the community center, but due to being on vacation last week, I didn't make any child care reservations for this week. It worked out anyway--I put Brendan in the stroller, and I took my "normal" path around our development, which usually takes me about 45 minutes to do. It was 7:25 when we started our walk, and it was already 76 degrees out....I had water for both of us, and off we went!!!

Tomorrow, it's back to the community center for another spinning class.

I have to say, I'm a group fitness class addict--it's so much easier to have someone else tell me what to do--but, I also like the music, and I can push myself as hard or as little as I want (I usually push myself pretty good).

Also....the community center offers a 6-week nutrition class 3 or 4 times/year. I'm thinking about taking the next one that starts the end of September. Maybe it will help me figure out what I'm "doing wrong" with my eating habits.

Hey gang :)

I exercised today for the first time in.....longer than I can recall! Its been awhile for me. My DVD player went on the fritz so I was without any of my tapes and whatnot. Its all good though because my hunny bear fixed it and I got to use it again today.

I was really surprised at how out of shape I am again. I couldn't even do all of the leg presses in the video. Sad really since I used to be a pro at them! But I know that eventually I will get up there again and be okay.
Tomorrow is 2 years since I started using the FIRM for the first time. I gained all of the weight I had initially lost with the FIRM back so I decided there was no better time than right now--right in time for my anniversary of sorts--to get back into the game. I made a mini-goal for myself and I'm going to bust my butt trying to get there. I want to lose 10 lbs before I start student teaching at the end of next month. Not impossible but it'll definitely take all of the willpower that I have to be able to achieve that.

I'm excited about it though. I'm sick of being unhappy with what I see in the mirror body-wise but I also know I'm the only one who can change that!

I resisted the urge/temptation to stop at McDonald's for an ice cream cone this afternoon. I had a cauliflower, broccoli, & cheese baked potato at the food court in the mall. The cheese probably wasn't too good for me, but overall, I think the choice was okay--Subway might have been better, but I didn't feel like a sandwich/sub. And, it was a much better choice than any of the chinese offerings or Burger King. So, I won't beat myself up over it.

It's closing in on 90 degrees here--making the taste for ice cream that much more pressing.

I talked myself out of it....said that I could enjoy a freeze pop that we already had at home or some Crystal Light lemonade.

I originally had a goal to change the dress size for the wedding that I'm in in August; however, this Saturday is the last day to exchange the dress before the wedding. I haven't tried on the dress, but my weight is probably only down about 5 pounds since the middle of December when we tried on the dresses. I haven't actually tried on my dress in a while, but I don't think a smaller size would fit me any better--I'll just have to deal with alterations, I guess.

Here's my problem, there are things long-term that are happening that I would like to be in better shape/form for....the wedding in August, a wedding in November, and a probable cruise the end of December (I'd really like to wear a bikini!!!); however, how do I keep myself motivated and not give into temptations. I need to figure out some short term goals/rewards/etc...to help keep me on the right track!!!
I thought I would explain why I chose the challenge I did, especially Part 2. I think it makes more sense when you know how I came up with it.

Part 1
Post in this community at least once this week with your progress and once at the end of the week. (this will promote community activity and remind us that fitness isn't something that we need to think about once a week)

Part 2
Exercise at least three times this week outdoors. It is summer. This is the weather people tend to complain about missing during the winter and now that it is in full swing lets take advantage of it. Running, jogging, walking, cycling, roller blading, hiking, swimming can all be done outdoors in the warm sunshine.
A Word of Caution: Please be sure to keep adequatly hydrated when outdoors and always wear sunscreen.

Part 3
What are you eating? Please share with us either a sample of your daily/weekly menu or share with us your shopping list. Sometime when we are trying to eat better we stick ourselves in a rut and eat the same "safe" foods over and over and never venture into other culinary areas, this may cause us to burn out on the idea of eating healthy. This part of the challenge will allow us to learn from each other. We each are bound to have something or another on our menus that others do not.

Please don't forget to comment and accept this challenge. I can't wait to see the results!!!

Yay! It's my turn to post a challenge!!! Come on ladies, you can do it!

This week's challenge has to do with fruits and vegetables.

Your challenge is:
Part 1: To have at least one serving of fruit with 2 of your meals each day.
Part 2: To have at least one serving of vegetable with 2 of your meals each day.
Part 3: When you feel a desire to snack, grab a drink of water, count to 10, and ask yourself, "Do I really NEED this snack?"
